Chicago was great - more detail to come! Tonight, though - fireworks!!! Chachoo had NEVER seen fireworks before (his wife had seen them in Karachi, though.) Also, funnel cake! I take my Introduction to America responsibilities very seriously - there must always be some kind of cake. On the flip side, my lessons in Urdu continued as well as I learned a 2nd word for fireworks. I already knew patakha, but I'd never heard aatish baazi before. (Both of them mean fireworks, though patahka is also used to describe a forward, modern or very bold girl. Just like in English; "Wow, that girls' a firecracker!"Maybe aatish bazi is used that way too? I don't know.)
Next year, our Fourth of July celebrations should - God willing - include one extra American. (No, I'm not pregnant, it's M. He's nearing the amount of time it takes for him to go from permanent resident/green card holder to citizen.) Better step up my lessons about American history. More cake - stat!
