Drummers from the Baraat
Just so we all don't have to look at the word "potty" anymore. But also - a rare video look inside my in-law's home in Karachi. This is the entry veranda, and the two drummers we hired for the bharaat.
yes, baaraat... the site of these guys is one of those new and unusual things for a first timer in PK since they stand on the side of the road in groups in their yellow clothes waiting to get hired for a wedding. When I first saw them I was like, 'hmmm, what are those guys doing there with their intruments, are they like mariacheros???' i was so perplexed. there are a lot of things I see in PK that are a mystery to me.
my MIL told me these guys are special drummers from Jhang and their caste makes $$$ playing at weddings...dunno if that is true, maybe one of those things that was true in the olden days and now anyone can do this, but that's what she told me anywayz.
