Hooray! It's National Delurking Day!
What's that, you ask? It's for all you lurkers out there - those of you come 'round these parts but don't speak up - to say hello, if only once a year. And you hafta - it's the rules! I'm mostly a lurker myself, but I know I'll be up late tonight, finally responding to comments on every post since the beginning of our trip! I'm so behind. There are almost 2000 things to be read in my reader, too, so if you see me come by on a month-old post, you'll know why.
Happy Delurking Day, everyone! (That's Delurking Day Mubarak, I guess?)

I love the idea of this! Happy Delurking day!
As salaamu alaikum Sis - Um . . not sure what I'm supposed to do . .I am one of your newer followers, so haven't made as many comments as others. I am an Indian (with relatives in Pakistan as well). I am a bit confused, for some reason - are you still in Pakistan? I missed some of the posts, as I was busy with an exam, but will check those out soon insha'allah, so that may be the cause of my confusion.
Anyways, your blog is so entertaining ma'sha'allah and I wish you, M & family all the best.
Oh hello!
Hi-I read your blog all the time...glad you enjoyed your visit to Pakistan! Jenn :)
Assalamualikum. I love your blog. I was born and raised in Pakistan. Have been living in Texas for the past 8 years. I love seeing Pakistan and Pakistani culture through your eyes.
Umaira
Hello!
I just started reading your blog last week - I'm not even sure how I discovered it, but it's a great read :)
I'm a British Pakistani and we have a lotta non-Pakistanis in our extended family, I have Iraqi, English, Philllipino, Slovak & Iranian relatives.
It's great to hear your stories of trying to fit into Pakistani culture...as a Brit, I find it equally confounding and fulfilling!
Keep it up... and I hope you'll collate your best posts into a book...lotta good advice and insights there for others in your situation.
Hi!
Hi!
I started reading your blog one day when I googled 'gori' (I think I said this on a previous post.. haha) and you came up! I really do love this blog, it's been so interesting to read about things I've always had questions about myself. I'm currently attending University and I'm the only gori on our bhangra team, almost certain I'm the first non-Indian in the history of the actually, lol. The majority of my friends are Indian, I've dated a few Indian guys, and my friends always joke that I will without a doubt end up with an Indian guy. Luckily that's exactly (well, almost) what happened to you! At least now I can know what to expect if it does happen. It never hurts to be prepared, right?
:)
As-salaamu `alaikum
Ive been a lurker for a while :)
lurker here o.o ...doi say hello and disappear?
Hi! Your blog rocks (I've been reading for a few months now)
Salaam. Lurker delurking here.
Daughter of gori(English)mum and desi(Pakistani)dad. Born in Lahore, grew up in Nigeria and Lahore, married a desi and now living in the UK.
Asalaam alaikum...Found your blog a few months ago. I'm married to a Pakistani, and we have 4 children. I have to admit that I check your blog every day for a new post! :)Reading your blog, especially the last month or so, has made me miss Pakistan soooo much. My in-laws are in NWFP, so I guess we won't be going there anytime soon! Can't wait to hear more about the wedding!! Allah hafiz!
Silly me, now I understand. As I said in my first comment (see above), I'm a newer follower, I'm American of Indian descent, my parents both were born and grew up in India and after some time in the UK, came to New York, where I was born and we now currently live on the West Coast of the US. I am studying in Central Europe at the moment. I found the blog after another blog I follow won a Brass Crescentg Award and of course, this blog also won an award, so that's when I clicked over and started follwing this very fun and cool blog. I have family in Pakistan again, as I mentioned, but sadly I missed out on a dear female cousin's wedding there back in 2003 (Karachi). It's great to see what it is like for a Gori to encounter all the things that we desi's are familiar with and your take on it Sis. Keep up the posts and I'm I can say this on behalf of the rest - we love you!!!
GUILTY! I'm a lurker...But I think you already know that lol
InshaAllah everyone is doing well...all healthy and happy.
**HUGS**
Salam alaikum, I'm a lurker from Ireland. I recently found your blog and really enjoy it. I'm also married to a Desi. Many of your experiences are so familiar to me!
Hi, I've been following your blog for a while, and I absolutely love it.
I am from Denmark and am with a Pakistani guy, and reading about your experiences has helped me a lot. Thank you so much for sharing.
I'm not a lurker, but I like this idea! I am going to tag it on my blog and see if I have lurkers too!
Asalaam alaikum,
I have been reading your blog for quite a while. I converted to Islam about two years ago after meeting and working with a Pakistani guy. I have since wondered what it would be like being married to someone who is desi.. and your blog has been great for both information and entertainment.
Ok, I must admit it. I'm a lurker. Your an interesting read. I thoroughly enjoy your insight, with cross cultural marriages. Thanks for sharing.
Gabrielle
Hi! I've been lurking since not too long after you started this blog. I'm America and even though my husband is Arab and not desi, I can relate a lot to your posts!

Hi! I came across your blog when Parent Hacks featured something of yours. I'm a Pakistani-Canadian living in the suburbs of Toronto. I find your blog absolutely delightful and your openness to the Pakistani culture has made me reexamine many of my own prejudices for my own people. So thank you for that.
I am a Canadian Pakistani and have been reading your blog for about a year now and I think it is great. I have a sister-in-law who is Chinese. I started reading your blog because I wanted to see Pakistan from a non-Pakistani's point of view and to understand how difficult or easy it was for my sister-in-law to integrate into the culture and the family. There definitely were some hilarious incidents but she has managed extremely well.
u know me ~ :)

I am a lurker... I have been reading your blog since September. I am a half Paki/ Half American woman who just married my full Pakistani husband in November! :) I ran across your site while googling/planning our wedding. Your blog is addicting. I love it!
I am a late and disorganised lurker who also had 5 trillion things in the reader to shift through...
...but belatedly wanted to say that I really enjoy your blog! :) I'm American and married to a Kurdish Turkish guy, so I can almost relate to some of your stories of exploring your husband's culture, except for the important part where you are a much better writer than me. :D
Salaam Gori wife

Ma salaama...
Hi I am khadija from the sobia forums. I check on your blog daily.
i love to read an outsider's view about pakistani culture, and your posts are so sincerely written that i love it.
Hey, you already know I read your blog even if this is my first comment.
:)
Asalam o alikum
I happened to stubble upon your blog last month and read quite a few of your blogs posts... and today I was thinking about you so I came back here to offically write my first comment. Your previous post regarding uncles was the reason why I thought of you! Well it wasn't 'uncles' it was actually 'aunties'. I was just sitting in my room pondering to myself regarding the different names for aunties in the desi culture and thought how would I be able to explain this to a non-desi person. Then you came to mind and I was going to request you to cover this topic (a desi asking a non-desi to explain the different aunties..hehe). Then I come here and you already have the topic covered! I should have asked for something else, huh =D.

Thanks again!
Do you think the best way to get the cheapest plane tickets is by calling the airline? Or, do you scan through hundreds of websites provided by search engines to find low airfare tickets? Maybe you hope to find cheap airfare in the local newspaper's travel section.
Finding cheap airline tickets can be one of the most frustrating experiences that most of us learn very quickly. Of course, most people eventually give up after spending hours scanning websites that offer virtually the same flight schedules and pricing. People purchase what they believe is the cheapest plane ticket, only to find their neighbor paid just a third of what they did!
Unless you understand the concept of of how airlines set prices, all the searching in the world won't provide the cheapest airline ticket prices. The following information will give you a guide to follow, as you wander through the maze searching for cheap airfare.
Understand how prices are set by airlines! Air ticket pricing is complex and unpredictable, and driven by competition, demand, and inventory. Airlines call this "yield management."
Competition is the beast behind the cheapest plane tickets. All major airlines utilize central reservation systems (owned by various airlines) to fill available seats. The systems are known as Apollo, Sabre, WorldSpan and Galileo. Prices are based on demand, and if some flights are selling well, the price will increase. If the flight is unpopular and has very little demand, the fare is lowered in hope of attracting consumers. In short, fares and inventory change every minute of every day!
Finding the cheapest plane tickets is difficult because travel agents and Internet websites use the central reservation systems that are updated periodically throughout the day. The reason why different searches come up with different results is because the systems are not updated at the same times. And, each system may use different algorithms when searching for low airfare tickets, which can provide a variety of ticket prices .
