News To Me

Apparently I look Australian.

I went to a beauty parlor with a cousin of M's today to have mehendi put on my hands and feet for the wedding. At first, we were almost the only ones in there, but after a while there were lots of women, even a few kinds, and lots of chatter. Some of the women who came afterwards hadn't heard me speaking in Urdu, so I guess they didn't know not to talk about me right in front of me. They decided I was from Australian, and they wondered what I was doing all the way over there since I was staying in Defense (the nicer part of the city with all the big houses.) Then they decided that it was nice that such a good beautician was doing my mehendi since this was the first time I was ever getting it done. Wrong on all counts.

hahah, that was funny Sis. Wow, so you've learned a good amount of Urdu, that rocks! Can you bust out some Urdu on a post? (Sorry if you have before, I am one of your new followers!)

Lol...people are always assuming stuff. Everyone in Dubai thinks I'm Arab and seem to get offended when they realise I'm not :s

lol!! I don't think that any of the aunties at the masjid know I speak Urdu (I'm living the Gori Fiance life lol) and I always love hearing what they have to say about me and other people. :-P Sometimes I want to join in, but it's so much more fun to feign ignorance!

hehe that's too rich! like everyone else, i wanna know if you spoke up. i wish i knew more arabic. i only know enough to know i'm being spoken about but not what's being said about me! which is almost worse because it could be completely innocent, and yet here i am, feelin' all suspicious and stuff. :)
