Weekend Bookends in Pictures

This is how we started and ended our weekend:

On Friday, I spent all afternoon making fried vegetable fritters called Pakoras for a party. A party where I was a mere guest, not the host, yet I still made them to bring with me because I am the Pakora queen, and my pakoras are much-sought-after. This is how my weekend started.

And this is how my weekend ended. A Sunday night spent trudging in bag after bag after box of stuff we'd spent all day shopping for. The first in what will likely be many rounds of shopping for our upcoming Pakistan trip. Some of it's regular around-the-house-kind of stuff like Ziplock bags and Swiffer dusters, some of it's presents for our family like a camera and a blazer for his brothers, and some of it's stuff we'll bring for ourselves like night-time Pull-ups and baby lotion. And of course some new luggage, since this time we'll be taking SIX bags.

It was an exhausting weekend!

Now I'm feeling hungry with the food pics! Been away from home for 2 months now... missing mom's food.

Have you ever posted how to make your pakoras, or any recipes? I'd love to learn from you. For some reason, when I try to copy a desi or a desi-friend's recipe it still turns out like the white-girl-failed attempt!!

First time commenting but I loved reading your blog and reading about your perceptions of desi culture. Just an FYI though, my roommate is going home to India and they told her that she can only take one bag for free but has to pay for the other one ($50). But there is an airline that doesn't have this stupid weight restriction? I mean, when we go back home it is not easy to fit everything into one bag!

Wow, I'm getting ideas for things to take to Pakistan with me. Care to share the camera brand since I suppose to get one too but not sure which brand is compatible over there.

Those Pakoras look delicious, don't mind me if I snatch bunch of it.

PS. Love your blogging style.
