2. Cranky baby from being whisked out of his bed the second he makes a pipsqueak. Apparently "he usually needs a little while to himself in his crib every morning" does not translate.
3. Drinking four cups of tea. Already.
4. Realizing that one of the reasons this transition is difficult for me is that I usually spend an inordinate amount of time around the house without pants. And now I can't.
5. Heading out to buy a robe. Will I suddenly become a robe kind of person now?

wouldn't it be easier to put on M's pajama pants?
Robes can be good.
Be firm w/ little guy's good sleeping habits, you don't want doting dadi to spoil them all.
LOLOLOLOL
I'm sorry....ohhhh GW I'm soooo sorry...but honestly I know, on some level, somewhere inside of you, you are seeing the absolute hilarity of these situations.
The JOY of In-laws coming to visit! :)
I know everything will calm down and work itself out...but in the mean time, remember deep breaths and giggling at yourself sometimes helps a lot.
PS: Get a house dress, looks awful, but when nobody's around you can hike that puppy up for some ventilation! >:D<
It takes time to get adjusted. Regardless if it's the MIL or cousins or whomever...It's your space and you do things differently. Having someone in your home for months isn't easy.
"Get a house dress, looks awful, but when nobody's around you can hike that puppy up for some ventilation!"
LOL!!! I was going to comment about the pants thing, too, but this is hilarious. :)
I'm so introverted, I don't know if I could handle living in a one-bedroom apartment with in-laws for over a month, or having extended visits in my house. I get a little undone at the seams if I have people in my house for as little as a week.
Even pajama pants/robe is too much. The problem is that I like to sleep in an oversized t-shirt with my legs "unencumbered." Normally I can just wake up in the morning and put water on for tea. Or wake up in the middle of the night for a glass of water. And not have to change clothes until I'm getting ready for the day. (Clearly we have plenty of curtains on the windows.) It's the extra step I hate, and pajama pants/robe is still an extra step! Even a housedress is too encumbering for me to sleep in. I'm the kind of person who always has to have a leg sticking out of the comforter. Even if you hike it up for ventilation (HA!) you've got this swath of fabric all bunched up around your middle!
True True, you have to deal with the ball of bunched up material when it rides up....but I have also solved this problem!!!
You see....nobody said you had to SLEEP in the house dress...I mean, is MIL sleeping in the same room as you?
If not, just get yourself one of those great old lady snap on light cotton house dresses (you know the ones with the floral print) and PRESTO CHANGO you got yourself a quick and easy and light weight (easily hikable) day dress!
Course, you could always get one of these... http://www.boju-vintage.com/lingerie/lingerie.htm
I personally like Item- #35 Chiffon peignoir' set by "G. .M" U.S.A. :) :)
hehe...hey we all know how hard it is but you got to keep laughing or your gonna go nuts. :)
your blog such a good read. i read one post and i went to read the entire blog :P
oooh-oooh I have another one (my IL's just left) - going through an entire jug of vegetable oil and a large salt container within only a few days of MIL cooked dinners.
I LOVE the four cups of tea and having to wear pants, btw. Those were my complaints to myself everyday they were here, too!! LOL!
